I get as much joy from showing my art as I do in
making it. Through my art, I feel that I have something unique and wonderful
to share with the world. What I am attempting to do is combine color,
texture and symbols in spiritual ways to enhance people’s souls
and lives.
My work shows a variety of methods and themes in my
approach to fabric art. In the past five years, I have been experimenting
with encaustic painting on various surfaces. Encaustic paint is beeswax,
pigment and resins, which are melted together and applied in a molten
state to a hard surface like wood. I am especially pleased with the results
I have had with applying the encaustic paint to non-traditional supports
like quilts. The wax changes the character of a quilt, yet it still maintains
its quilt essence.
In making art I simply allow the expressive and personal
power of the textiles to speak to me and take me where it may. Art allows
me to express the deep and abiding love, that fires life. I am committed
to using my expertise, talents and skills to share, enrich, uplift and
educate within my community and the world. My goal is simply to serve
humanity through my creative abilities as an artist.
